Andenes to Lofoten
A comfy and restful night in the tent later, we were excited to see more of Andøya and eventually, Vesterålen. Not too warm, but no threat of rain. After only 30 km we found an unexpected cafe along the route and we went for second breakfast consisting of waffles and carrot cake, amongst others. We met other bikepackers coming north who were complaining about the terrible winds. Soon we realised why, but fortunately, it was a tail wind for us most of the day.
We kept a good pace with only one more rest stop, before deciding to sprint for the ferry over to Lofoten, some 80 km ahead. The tailwind still going strong, and the route mostly flat, we managed a really good average speed before arriving at the ferry with a fair 15 minutes to spare.
We had a great view of (parts of) Lofoten while crossing the fjord, and then some for the next hour of riding before finding a campspot. Proud to be pitching our tent two nights in row!
