Detour day 6

Alta to Straumfjorden

A lovely night in the tent, waking up feeling refreshed and ready for a new day on the bike! Well, only from the waist up: the legs are sore and the butt is complaining quite a bit. We’ve got our eyes on Tromsø and are planning on taking a rest day in town. But first, another 300 or so kilometers must be cycled.

The weather was warm and the winds fair. Most of the day we spent riding on roads meandering along the coast line. The one significant climb today was up Kvænangsfjellet. 400 meters of climbing, at a mostly consistent gradient around 7%. Beautify views all around of the fjord, sea, and the mountains (do try to ignore the road construction work currently going on). Our reward was dinner and ice-cream at the top!

We continued on for another 30km to a campground where we enjoyed a shower, did some laundry (for once not by hand!) and went to bed in anticipation of an early start tomorrow.

Alta til Straumfjorden. Deilig dag med sol og varme! Litt travelt på e6, men det gjekk greit! Tre tunellar, ikkje noko stress det heller 👌 Middag på Gildetun før me sklei i god stil ned i Straumfjorden for overnatting ⛺ konseptet "sure bein" har fått ei ny betydning for min del 😅
