Tromsø to Andenes
After two nights in Tromsø, we were both feeling both rested and restless and eager to move on. The forecast promised rain for a few hours, then low cloud cover and a chance of seeing the sun. This promise was reneged. It rained cats and dogs until the bitter end. But first things first:
Alarm clock went off at 6 in the morning and by 7:45 we rolled out of our hotel, fully suited up in gore-tex. Today’s leg featured two ferries, first one after about 50 kilometers to take us out to Senja. We had hears great things about Senja, and unfortunately, we did not get the chance to see much of the landscape as the clouds hovered roughly 200 meters above us and continuously dowsed us in rain. In addition, the most spectacular and scenic road on the north side is closed due to road works. Mostly, we toiled through, deep inside our hoods and dark mood.
After some 8 hours we rolled in to Gryllefjord, where we had 3 hours to kill before the ferry over to Andøya. A quick wash in the rest room, a burger at the local shop and a rinse of two very dirty bikes later, we rolled on to the ferry.
2 hours and some intense meditation to repress the sea sickness, we finally rolled on to Andenes. Dry roads! Happy days, as we pitched our tent and settled in for the night, with our wet shoes and socks hung out to dry.
