Olderfjord to Alta
A very comfy night later, in a not-quite-quaint cabin, the sun was out and the winds were absent. Perfect for cycling in “short-short” (aka bibshorts and short-sleeved jersey) one of us thought. The other one had more information: today’s route would take us over Sennalandet. At only 385 meters above sea-level, this plateau barely registers for us south-dwellers, however, in this region one can always expect strong winds and/or rain. We got both, even if the forecast promised sun and a slight tailwind. We’ve nailed the put-on-the-raingear routine by now, and managed to stay fairly comfortable. And eventually the sun came out again and the thermometer crept from 15 to 23 degrees.
Our goal was 15 kilometers past Alta, where we had spotted a promising campsite. A short cake-stop in Alta first though. It felt deserved! At camp, we pitched our tent in an actual flat spot, bathed in the nearby river and did some trail laundry. A simple freeze dried dinner, then sleepy time by 9.
Most of today we’ve been riding on e6, which is the main road in this area and quite busy. There are no alternate and quieter roads until we get to Tromsø in a few days.
